The Washington Redskins and Cleveland Indians Are Considering Name Changes

The Washington Redskins are considering a name change . . .

Last Thursday, FedEx asked the team to change its name.  They pay the Skins $7.6 million a year for the right to call their stadium FedEx Field.  Then Thursday night, Nike took all the team’s gear off their website.  Then Pepsi jumped on the pile.

On Friday, the team issued a statement saying they would conduct a “thorough review” of the situation.  And Coach RON RIVERA said the issue was of, quote, “personal importance” to him.

That same day, the Cleveland Indians announced they were working to determine, quote, “the best path forward with regard to our team name.”

In other words, it sounds like both teams are getting a facelift.
